Molas Lake is  a great place to spend your day!       

DAY USE HOURS: Molas Lake Park is open for day users from "dawn-to-dusk."

PICNIC & BBQ: Four (4) day use picnic areas are available free of charge, first-come, first-serve. Each area has a BBQ grill and picnic table.

WOOD: Molas Lake Store sells firewood. In the interest of forest health, no out-of-state wood is allowed to prevent the spread of forest pathogens and disease. Cutting or picking up wood at Molas Lake Campground to burn in campfires or grills is strictly prohibited.

TOLIETS: Clean, vault-style toilets are located near the day use parking areas.

PETS: Pets are welcome at Molas Lake. Dogs must be leashed at all times in Molas Lake Park and Campground. They must not bother anglers or be left unattended. Owners must pick up all pet waste and dispose of it properly (not in bathrooms) to ensure trails, fishing areas, day use picnics , and campground areas are clean.

FISHING: There is no fee to fish at Molas Lake. All anglers need valid Colorado fishing licenses. Our fishing web page has more information on where to buy fishing licenses. You'll need to supply your own fishing equipment. Aquatic live bait is prohibited. Rainbow and brown trout are the most common species in the lake. The fish limit is four (4) fish per person/per license.

FISH CLEANING: Cleaning of fish is only allowed at the fish cleaning station, and all unwanted fish byproducts must be bagged and discarded in the dumpster. The fish cleaning station is located by the Molas Lake Office on the west (left) side of the garage. Do not clean fish in the lake.

BOATING: Bring your own non-motorized hand-launched watercraft or rent one at the Molas Lake Store. Electric trolling boats are allowed on Molas Lake. The Molas Lake Store rents kayaks, SUPs, and a rowboat. Boats must be launched at the boat ramp.

HIKING or BIKING: Molas Lake Park provides access to the Colorado Trail and several other Molas Lake and Molas Pass area trails. See our hiking web page for more information.

NOT ALLOWED: Molas Lake Park does not allow swimming in Molas Lake, ATVs, drones, or unleashed pets.
